When we carefully select and purchase wooden kitchen utensils, we consider their natural safety, which gives us peace of mind when using them. How can we extend the lifespan of these natural utensils? This requires conscious maintenance and care.

We recommend:
Rinse immediately after use: Rinse the surface with water below 40°C to remove any residue, preventing food oils from solidifying.
Gently clean with a soft sponge, cloth, or non-abrasive brush. Dilute a mild, pH-neutral detergent in water and gently wipe along the grain of the wood.
Rinse thoroughly: Ensure all detergent residue is completely removed under running water.
Dry immediately: Place on a well-ventilated rack and hang above the ground for best results. Avoid contact between the bottom surface and water vapour.
Natural wooden tableware must never be subjected to the following:
Dishwasher: Continuous high-temperature water (80°C), strong detergents, and vigorous drying cycles have a destructive effect on wood. Soaking/submerging: Prolonged soaking causes water to penetrate deeply, resulting in irreversible structural damage.
Strongly corrosive chemicals: Avoid using bleach, ammonia, strong acids (such as vinegar), or abrasive cleaners.
Direct heat sources: Do not dry near stoves, in ovens, or using hair dryers.
Wire brushes/scouring pads: Abrasive tools damage the integrity of the wood surface and coating.

Here's how to maintain it when not in use:
Regular oiling: Every 4–8 weeks or when the wood appears dry, use food-grade mineral oil (USP/FCC grade) or a specialised wood care product (beeswax/mineral oil mixture). Dampen a lint-free cloth, apply thoroughly along the grain, let it absorb (15–30 minutes), then wipe off any excess.
Deep cleaning (occasionally): For stubborn stains or odours, mix baking soda with water to form a paste. Gently apply with a soft cloth, rinse thoroughly immediately, and perform maintenance promptly after complete drying.
Odour relief: Wipe with a cut lemon half (rinse, dry, and maintain immediately) or use a salt paste.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
